Who We Are

Sharing, Learning and Ideas Club (SLIC) is an association of members that are professionals representing different areas of specialisation. The core objective of the group is to provide a platform that promotes learning in an environment that facilitates a vibrant exchange of ideas. The group meets monthly and the typical meeting consists of two sessions which are each led by members who are tasked with selecting the topics as well as conducting background study. During the meeting, the speakers share their research outputs in an engaging atmosphere that encourages input from participants leading to a healthy discussion.

Usman Ahmed (Chairman)

20+ years in Telecoms & IT across technical, management & consultancy roles. Led nationwide + pan-European programmes, managed multimillion £ budgets, SLT/executive stakeholder expectations, and remote/onsite teams. Also run sports equipment + home/office improvement businesses. I value community, enjoy connecting with people, and bring strategic insight with an entrepreneurial mindset to the club. Love music (karaoke) and entertainment, always up for a chat, collaboration, or a good event.

Abdul Latif (Vice Chairman)

A seasoned tech professional in Energy, Utilities, and Telecoms, whose intellectual rigour in cyber security is matched by an entrepreneurial zeal and a deliberate approach to leisure. I am drawn to experiences that challenge both mind and body—whether securing critical infrastructure, strategizing on the cricket field, or navigating unfamiliar terrain on a weekend expedition.
I hold myself to a high standard of integrity and reliability, qualities I extend to every collaboration and social endeavour. Those who know me well describe my temperament as equanimous under pressure and effervescent in good company.
